Updates and Changes to the 2007-2008 Michigan Link
1. National Membership Dues have increased to $9.00 per person. State dues remain the same. The Membership Guidelines and instructions are listed in the General Information Section on page 5.
2. This year's State Community Service Project is titled "Rock Your Community" and is a very flexible program, encouraging members to Raise Their Voices in the community to make a difference in one of four project areas. A Platinum Level of recognition has also been added to recognize chapters that submit their project for a National Program Award (Community Service or other applicable program). Details of the project start on page 18 of the General Information Section.
3. Michigan FCCLA is hosting an inservice for New Advisers on September 26, 2007 at Eastern Michigan University. See page 7 of the Meetings Section for information and the RSVP form.
4. The State Advisory Board is reviewing and making changes to the Life Skills (State Only) Events. Once the changes have been completed in October, you will receive this section of your Michigan Link. Updates will be posted on www.mifccla.org.
5. National FCCLA is reviewing and updating the STAR Events Guidelines, and adding three new events - one in Fashion, one in Interior Design and one in Financial Literacy. The new STAR Events Manual will be available FREE OF CHARGE on the National FCCLA Website late this September. Once the National Guidelines are published, Michigan FCCLA will review our state requirements. The updates to Michigan's guidelines for STAR Events will be sent to you in October with the new Life Skills Event Guidelines. Check www.mifccla.org for updates.
