Updates and Changes to the 2009-2010 Michigan Link


1. A New Online System for Membership Processing has been developed by National FCCLA. Michigan FCCLA will host a training webinar later this Fall to help advisers learn the new system.
2. This year’s State Community Service Project is titled “Fit to Fly!” Chapters are encouraged to complete projects to help promote healthy eating and lifestyle choices to their members, schools, communities and families. Chapters completing one project will receive the Bronze Award, two projects earns your chapter the Silver Award, and it only takes three projects to receive the Gold Award. The Student Body Program is an excellent resource to use for this project. A list of project ideas is included. Details are on page 15 of the General Information Section.
3. Michigan FCCLA is hosting an inservice for New Advisers on October 1, 2009 at Eastern Michigan University. See page 11 of the Meetings Section for information and the RSVP form.
4. We will only be hosting one Fall Leadership Conference this year on November 2 in Lansing at the Causeway Bay Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn-South). Details and registration information start on page 12 of the Conferences (Meetings) section.
5. Information about the National Cluster Meetings can be found on page 17.
6. A Point Summary Form has been added to each of the State STAR Events. This was done to help improve accuracy of scoring at the State Leadership Conference as well as more closely align our State STAR Events with National STAR Events.
7. National FCCLA is reviewing and updating the STAR Events Guidelines, and adding new events again this year. The new STAR Events Manual will be available FREE OF CHARGE on the National FCCLA Website late this September. Proposed new events include Environmental Ambassador, Fashion Design and Food Production.
