Event Descriptions

On April 9-11, 2008, Family & Consumer Science Education, Early Childhood and Teacher Cadet students will apply their knowledge of family and consumer sciences at Michigan FCCLA’s 62 nd Annual State Leadership Meeting. I would like to invite you to serve as a judge to assist in evaluating the student’s skills in one of twenty event areas. Educators and community leaders, like yourself, are needed on April 10, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Valley Plaza Resort in Midland.

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA, formerly FHA-HERO) is a dynamic student-centered organization that serves more than 200,000 middle and high school students across the nation and is truly The Ultimate Leadership Experience. FCCLA’s competitive events program consists of practical, relevant educational activities that are tied directly to the Family & Consumer Sciences, Early Childhood Education and Teacher Cadet curricula. This competition provides learning experiences which contribute to the personal and career development of each student.

Basic information about the conference can be downloaded here. Descriptions of each competitive event are available online at www.mifccla.org/evaluators. Please complete the R.S.V.P. form indicating your ability to judge, and return it to Michigan FCCLA by March 7, 2008.

Each year we depend upon support from over 60 educators and community leaders to assist us at the conference. Hopefully, you will accept this invitation to serve as a judge. The specific details of the event you will be judging will be explained to you at the judge’s orientation, held just prior to the actual competition.
