Families - Drive to Help

What group of people is always there for you? What group of people is always ready to lend you a hand? What group of people is always willing to help you no matter what it is? Well, I am talking about your family, of course. This article contains some community service project ideas, gives you deadlines for competition in the State Community Service Project, and will give you some pointers on how to fill out the papers for the State Community Service Project.

When the State Executive Council came up with the idea for the State Community Service Project, Drive To Help, we came up with project ideas like having a shoe drive, clothing drive, canned food drive, or raising money to buy Christmas presents for needy families in your community. Then the members who went to the workshop at Fall Leadership Conference came up with a pet food drive, holding a Bowl-A-Thon to raise money, or helping out at a local homeless shelter or local soup kitchen. Those are just a few project ideas that you can do to receive recognition for your community service project. When you are planning your project, just be creative and come up with your own idea to help out families in need in your community. So get out there and start helping.

I know there are some questions that members ask their advisors: When does my project have to be done? When is the deadline to enter my project? When should I register my project to compete at state meeting? Well, I can answer those questions for you. You should get your projects done as soon as possible so that you can have more time to work on boards, books, and speeches. The deadline for the State Community Service Project is March 15, 2011, so get your projects done so that you can be recognized. You should register your projects starting in mid-February so that you are not cramming to get it done the night before in is due. Therefore, work hard and get out and help your community.

As you all know, when you have to register something, there is usually paper work that you have to fill out. When you fill out the papers for the State Community Service Project, you have to check bronze, silver, or gold levels. In order for your chapter to receive recognition at each level, you have to do one project for bronze, two for silver, and three for gold. When filling out the paper work, make sure to let us know all the great things you have done for your community. Now you have the information on filling out paper work for recognition and what each level of recognition is.  The deadline for the State Community Service Project application is March 15, 2011.

We hope to see you with your projects at the State Leadership Conference. Get the paper work in, and get your chapter recognized for doing all those great things for your community! Keep up the good work. See you at the State Leadership Conference!
