FCCLA: an organization that I had never heard of until two years ago, when I started high school and looking for a way to get involved. Little did I know what joining FCCLA would mean for me. Joining FCCLA and being on the state executive council this year has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. This year has been so amazing and has given me many friends, memories, and learning experiences that I will never be able to forget.
First of all are the friends. I feel like I know the girls who were on the State Executive Council with me as well as I know my friends who I’ve had for years. We’ve spent so much time together in the past year and I’m going to miss them so much. Good luck, you guys, with everything you encounter in the years ahead. There weren’t only the girls, though. Thank you Mr. Schmidt for all that you’ve done for us, all the times you’ve made me laugh, all the times you’ve encouraged us, and for how patient and tolerant you’ve been with Gail, Jessica, Brittnie, Ashley, and me. You’ve been great.
Then, the memories. Not only do I have all of the pictures that I’ve taken at every single State Executive Council meeting that we’ve ever had, but I also will never be able to forget all the fun times I’ve had representing Michigan FCCLA. Like I keep saying over and over again, being on the state executive council this year has been one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done, and I will never be able to forget it.
Another thing that I won’t be able to forget are the learning experiences I’ve had over this past year. I’ve learned to be flexible, to always try my hardest, to not leave things to the last minute, that it’s okay to ask for help when I need it, that I can trust others, and to always expect the unexpected, among other things. FCCLA has taught me so much this year, and these are life lessons that will continue to help me forever.
I would like to thank all of you members for making this such a great year. You have all contributed to helping this year to be awesome, and I want you to know that.
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me this year, to everyone who has always been standing behind me, and to everyone who has put up with me talking about nothing but FCCLA for the past year. Thank you, thank you.
