State Officer Farewell
Boy does time fly when you're having fun! It's hard for me to grasp that my year as a Michigan FCCLA State Officer is over! It seems like just yesterday I was sitting nervously in the audience waiting for my turn to give my speech about why I should be on the State Executive Council. Nonetheless, the year is done, but FCCLA will forever be a part of me.
I didn't expect to become attached to the rest of the SEC this year. Each one of them has made me a better person in their own way. I will never forget the “bonding” experiences I shared with each of you. Like Jaelinn, did we not room together like EVERYTIME? Remember how we were going to go to bed, yet always stayed up for another two hours talking about boys? And Ashley, remember when I almost killed us? I swear, that light only just turned red! Lorainne, I won't forget your numerous attempts to teach me to swim. I guess I'm just unteachable. Leigha, remember rooming together at Eastern? That was an experience right there! Andrew, I will never forget furniture shopping at the mall and testing out all the message chairs at our first official meeting. Last, but not least, Mr. Schmidt, I never get tired of talking LOST with you. You all have made me a better person and our meetings were never long enough. I will miss you all dearly.
I also need to thank my Ubly chapter. Without all their help in revising my speeches or giving me feedback, I would not have been as prepared as I should have been. Thank you especially do Jennifer, Leandra, and Mrs. Laurie.
A thank you needs to be said for my parents allowing me to take on such a difficult challenge. Thank you to my mom for attending the conferences and seeing how important FCCLA really is to me.
Furthermore, I would like to thank everyone at Ubly that knows FCCLA is not a club, but the ultimate leadership experience. Thank you to all the teachers and staff in revising my Focus article, helping me on me speeches, and giving me support when I need it.
Without the support for everyone in my life, I would not have been able to be a State Officer this year. Thank you all.
