Searching for Candidates to

Lead Michigan FCCLA

Next Year

To take your leadership to the next level, consider using the skills and experiences gained through FCCLA to run for office. Serving as a State Officer is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference, develop your skills, and inspire others to do the same.

Serving as a State Officer is the highest leadership role a youth member can hold in Michigan FCCLA.

It can also be one of the most rewarding experiences for a student.

Each year at the State Leadership Conference, the association elects State Officers to serve for the following school year.

State Officers receive specialized professional development and career readiness training, while learning how to advocate for themselves, their career, and CTE at a high level. State Officers represent the association, facilitate programming at conferences, and offer suggestions from a youth perspective to the program of work. With these incredible opportunities comes an increased level of responsibility; State Officers are required to attend several additional meetings and often arrive early to conferences.

Students may be a great choice for state office if they:

  • Possess leadership skills, professionalism and independence

  • Enjoy public speaking and presenting in class

  • Are coachable, willing to learn, and excited to grow

  • Are passionate about their career and/or FCCLA

  • Have great ideas to share, and love working as a team with others

  • Have a strong support system at school and at home

Candidates who are interested will undergo the candidate process, including an interview, knowledge test, prepared speech and impromptu question response. The process is rewarding whether the candidate is elected or not. If a student is not selected to move on in the State Officer Candidate process, the student and their adviser will be contacted directly by FCCLA state staff to provide detail to the student regarding dismissal from the process.

Documents will be posted in late fall.
